Having experienced a rapid growth in recent years, Carlyle began to acknowledge that its aging ERP system was struggling to keep pace and started to review the ERP market place.
It began a lengthy selection process to identify a solution that would provide the best functional fit and a rapid return on investment. In addition to its ERP system the company relied upon disparate databases and various Excel spread sheets and therefore wanted a completely integrated system to give them visibility throughout the entire business.
Following a protracted evaluation process of the leading ERP systems, the Carlyle team was impressed with Sage X3 and the project approach suggested by the team at CPiO. Carlyle made the decision to adopt the Sage X3 solution combined with the fully integrated Sage Inventory Advisor (SIA) solution. John Penn, Finance Director commented, “After an extensive search for a replacement ERP solution we felt Sage X3, from CPIO, would be the best solution to take our business forward”.
The Sage X3 system combined with the integrated Sage Inventory Advisor (SIA) offered Carlyle the solution it was looking for. Not only did the proposed solution fulfil the financial requirements covering purchasing, sales, electronic data management and powerful business reporting tools, but the integrated SIA solution also offered Carlyle more efficient stock management. SIA focusses on the two simple concepts of wanting to know ‘what is wrong’ and ‘what to order’ by using sophisticated algorithms and modelling technologies to improve the integrity of the replenishment process.
With capital tied up in stock across the six depots, Sage X3 will provide Carlyle with a leaner, more efficient operation. “I see Sage X3 providing efficiencies in stock distribution and branch replenishment. Having the right stock in the right place at the right time is absolutely key to this demanding industry”, commented Mo Hassanyeh, Operations Manager.
CPiO fought off strong competition from other software vendors and authors. However, throughout the selection process Carlyle built a trust in CPiO and liked the manner in which they showed true understanding of the Carlyle business. Sheila Tomkins, Purchasing Manager had a significant role in the decision making process, as she explains, “The Purchasing Department is vitally important to Carlyle, Sage X3 is strong in this area and will meet the team’s requirements.
