Mid Wales based innovator Invertek Drives is stepping up its operational efficiency with a major Sage 200 Professional upgrade, delivered by CPiO.
As a global manufacturer of variable frequency drives (VFDs), Invertek Drives is a member of Sumitomo Drive Technologies whose businesses already use JD Edwards as a group-wide ERP solution. This Sage 200 project strengthens Invertek’s local systems while aligning with the broader group’s commitment to innovation and operational excellence.
Invertek designs and manufactures cutting-edge VFD technology that optimises motor control, improves energy efficiency, and reduces operating costs for customers worldwide.
Upgrading from Sage 50
The company had been running a very old version of Sage 50 (version 17, released in 2011), which had far exceeded the recommended data capacity and could no longer be updated or supported effectively. The outdated system limited functionality across manufacturing and administrative processes.
By upgrading to Sage 200 Professional, Invertek will gain a modern, integrated ERP platform designed to streamline data management, enhance manufacturing control, and support smarter decision-making. The new system connects core departments while maintaining existing integrations for warehousing and dispatch, ensuring a smooth transition without operational disruption.
Bespoke CIM Integration
As part of the project, Invertek is also working with CPiO and long-standing third-party partner CIM to develop a small bespoke integration for its production system. This enhancement connects certain manufacturing elements directly with Sage 200, improving visibility, accuracy, and process control on the shop floor.
William Lloyd, IT Manager at Invertek Drives, commented early in the project:
“CPiO really took the time to understand how we work and what we needed from a new system. We’re confident that the Sage 200 implementation will give us a platform that supports our future growth and ongoing commitment to innovation.”
A Tailored Approach
Invertek explored several Sage partners, but what ultimately set CPiO apart was their consultative approach and deep manufacturing expertise. Rather than recommending a full system rebuild, CPiO assessed Invertek’s existing setup and tailored a solution that maximised efficiency while protecting the company’s current investments.
Steve Goodwin, CPiO Sage 200 Business Development Manager, said:
“Our priority was understanding Invertek’s operations and challenges before making any recommendations. By listening first and assessing their existing systems, we were able to tailor a solution that delivered exactly what they needed — without unnecessary disruption or starting from scratch.”
Dave Lee, CPiO Sage 200 Product Manager, added:
“Invertek didn’t need to start from scratch — they needed a partner who could help them get more from what they already had. By combining Sage 200 expertise with manufacturing insight, we delivered a solution that meets current needs and supports future growth.”
With Sage 200 Professional in implementation, Invertek is preparing to benefit from a platform that will streamline operations, improve visibility across manufacturing processes, and support future growth. The ongoing partnership with CPiO will ensure the business receives expert guidance as the system goes live and evolves over time.
