SAM Leisure, a leading supplier of games room and leisure equipment based in Coventry, has selected Sage 200 Professional from CPiO to replace Sage 50 after recognising that its existing system could no longer provide the visibility, control and scalability needed to support the growing business.
Established for more than 20 years, the business has built a strong reputation for supplying high-quality games and leisure equipment to venues across the UK. From premium pool tables and air hockey to a wide range of games room solutions, the business works with holiday parks, universities, sports venues and entertainment centres looking for reliable, long-lasting products.
As the business continued to grow, the systems behind the scenes started to create more challenges than they solved. What had worked well previously was no longer keeping pace, making it harder to manage data, reporting and day to day processes.
Reaching the limits of existing systems
Like many growing businesses, SAM Leisure had been using Sage 50 for a number of years. As the business evolved, issues around data accuracy and reporting became more noticeable, a relatable situation for many growing businesses.
The team initially tried to get more out of their existing system; bringing in a Sage 50 data specialist to clean up the data. This gave the business a short-term improvement.
However, over the following 12 months, it became clear that the challenges hadn’t gone away. Ongoing data management and reporting limitations continued to create inefficiencies, highlighting that a more robust, long-term solution was needed.
“We initially held off on changing systems and focused on cleaning up our data, but after a year it was clear we needed something more robust,” says Matthew Drage, Director at SAM Leisure. “Working with CPiO and moving forward with Sage 200 felt like the right next step for the business.”
Choosing a system that fits the business
Working closely with SAM Leisure, CPiO is implementing Sage 200 Professional, giving the business a more stable and flexible platform to build on.
The system is being implemented to fit around existing processes, while also allowing scope for future integrations as requirements evolve.
Rather than changing how the business works, Sage 200 is being introduced to strengthen what’s already in place, making day to day processes more consistent and easier to manage.
A more efficient way of working
Sage 200 Professional will help SAM Leisure reduce the time spent managing data issues and improve the consistency of reporting, giving the team greater confidence in day to day operations.
“SAM Leisure reached the point where continuing to fix the existing system just wasn’t the right long-term approach,” says Steve Goodwin, CPiO Sage 200 Business Development Manager. “Sage 200 Professional will give them a stable platform with the flexibility to grow without being held back by their systems.”
Dave Lee, CPiO Sage 200 Product Manager adds, “From a product and integration perspective, Sage 200 Professional gives SAM Leisure a strong core system that can evolve with the business. With integrations such as Besyncly already in place, and the option to explore tools like Intellisell for eCommerce, they’ve got a setup that can scale and adapt as their requirements develop.”
Knowing when it’s time to move forward
For many organisations, there comes a point where continuing to patch an existing system simply isn’t feasible for the long-term. SAM Leisure reached that point and made the decision to move forward with Sage 200.
If your current system is becoming harder to manage, or you’re spending more time fixing issues than focusing on growth, it may be time to take a closer look at your options. CPiO works with businesses in exactly this position, helping them understand what’s possible and what the next step could look like.
