What's new in Sage X3 2025 R2?

The latest Sage X3 2025 R2 release has been available for some time and introduces a range of enhancements and new features across the platform.

This update continues to build on Sage AI and automation capabilities, supporting greater efficiency, insight, and control in day-to-day operations.

Key updates include developments in APIs and the Automated Test Platform, alongside enhancements to mobile automation, e-invoicing, and AP automation, helping to further strengthen and streamline your Sage X3 environment.

Read on to explore the key updates, or get in touch with a member of the CPiO Sage X3 team to discuss how these new features could benefit your business.

APIs

Manufacturing APIs (Work Orders & BOMs)

Work orders and bill of materials (BOM) APIs have been completed, with additional related nodes now available to support wider manufacturing integration.

Finance APIs (Extended data model)

The finance API has been expanded with additional properties across existing nodes in query mode.
The Sage X3 Finance Data package now provides broader access to key financial structures, including accounts, journals, ledgers, periods, dimensions, and accounting schemes.

Fixed Assets APIs (New package)

A new Sage X3 Fixed Assets Data package introduces fixed asset data capabilities, including building, asset location, physical asset, and fixed asset nodes—enhancing visibility across asset management processes.

Automated Test Platform

Sage Copilot Chat & Insights (Beta)

The Automated Test Platform now supports automated interactions with Sage Copilot Chat and Sage Copilot Insights, enabling testing of conversational queries and insight-driven interactions. This feature is currently delivered as a beta capability and may evolve in future Sage X3 and Sage X3 Warehousing updates.

Java 21 Compatibility

Sage X3 Automated Test Platform 4.1.0 is now compatible with Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 21. Java 17 support will end on 31 March 2026, and users are encouraged to upgrade to maintain compatibility.

Framework Enhancements

The test framework has been extended with new and improved step definitions, including:

  • Support for user-stored values in GraphQL queries and mutations

  • Enhanced file upload controls, including file type handling

  • Calendar-based date field input support

  • Expanded handling of alert and confirmation dialogs with dynamic values

  • Improved screen display control using stored values

  • Password field support for static parameters

  • Ability to control landing pages using stored values

Distribution

Mobile Automation – Pick ticket confirmations

Enhancements now allow confirmation of stock picked during pick ticket processing in detailed allocation. Confirmation can be applied at location, lot, or serial number level, improving picking accuracy and control.

Mobile Automation – Purchase order receipt

Purchase orders can now be received directly using a purchase shipment number, streamlining inbound processing.

Mobile Automation – Transaction customisation (Sage X3 Builder)

Several key transactions have been refactored to improve customisation capabilities using Sage X3 Builder, including:

  • Miscellaneous issue by identifier

  • Intersite transfer

  • Stock change by LPN

Mobile Automation – Composite code for pick tickets

A new composite code structure can be defined via the Composite Code Settings function (GESCMPH), allowing custom fields to be included. Composite codes can then be scanned directly in the Pick Ticket transaction when using global allocation.

E-invoicing – outbound process updates

Updates have been made to improve flexibility and data handling in the outbound e-invoicing process, including:

  • Management of e-invoicing method parameters by company legislation
  • Enhanced e-invoicing fields for business partner, customer and supplier records

Purchasing – Bill-by supplier logic

When creating purchase invoices from receipts involving multiple purchase orders, only lines matching the invoice supplier are now available for selection, ensuring improved consistency in supplier billing.

Finance

AP automation document extraction

Duplicate checking can now be enabled for extracted documents. Supplier data is matched against the Sage AI directory to improve accuracy during extraction, with directory data prioritised when a match is found.

E-invoicing lifecycle management

Supplier e-invoices can now be refused in Sage X3. Lifecycle status can be synchronised with Sage Network and accessed directly from purchase and supplier invoices.

E-invoicing data synchronisation

Improvements have been made to e-invoicing data synchronisation for companies, customers, and suppliers, including enhanced electronic address handling and incremental synchronisation updates.

Payments improvements

Improvements have been made to payment and receipt rounding when bank and payment currencies differ, with updated controls for recalculating or retaining values.

Fixed assets import update

The physical asset import template has been corrected to ensure proper functional validation during import includes relevant compliance updates across European legislations to help support the most recent requirements.

Manufacturing

Stock period control issue price adjustments

A new control has been introduced to ensure issue price adjustments are posted before closing a stock period or fiscal year.

Platform modernisation

Sage AI integration

Sage AI is now integrated into Sage X3 and Sage X3 Services. Sage Copilot Chat and Insights can be enabled or disabled via the Administration menu through either the Sage X3 Solutions function or Endpoints.

System requirements

MongoDB 8 is now the mandatory supported version.

Deprecations

Legacy mobile frameworks (syracuse-tablet and syracuse-mobile) are deprecated and will no longer function following upgrade to 2025 R2.
